As for the town of Cotulla, we do have a number of great restaurants. You can enjoy barbecue at El Vaquero Cafe, genuine Mexican cuisine at El Charro Mexican Restaurant, or classic American fare at La Salle County Steakhouse.
Cotulla is also just a few minutes from Chaparral Wildlife Management Area. This area covers over 15,000 acres of Texas brushland. It's a great place to enjoy hiking, biking, camping, and hunting. Hunting in the Chaparral Wildlife Management Area is especially popular. Public hunts for white-tail deer, javelina, feral hogs, coyote, rabbit, and dove are typically scheduled from September thorough March.
We have two fully furnished one-bedroom suites available. Each suite has one king-size bed, along with a pull-out couch bed, and will accommodate up to three guests. Bed and bath linens are included.
Each suite has a kitchen, with a full-size fridge, stovetop/oven, and a microwave. Other amenities include WiFi and satellite TV. We also provide 24/7 front-desk services and full housekeeping services.
The Chaparral Wildlife Management Area (CWMA) is open for general public use from April through August each year. Here, visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, and hunting, as well as a number of other activities.
CWMA has two hiking trails that will allow you to explore South Texas brush country up close. One of the trails is ADA accessible. Bikers can ride along the Paisano Driving Trail, a self-guided tour with 49 educational stops along the way.
Hunting is very popular in the CWMA, especially white-tail deer hunting. In general, you'll need a valid hunting license, a public hunting permit, and the required tags and stamps for the type of hunting you'll be doing.
For more information on the CWMA, visit their Texas Parks and Wildlife website.
